When you begin dog training, whether in private lessons or group classes, one of the most important questions to ask yourself is: “How successful do I want my dog to be?”
The truth is, your dog’s progress depends largely on you.
Training Is a Team Effort:
As your trainer, I’m here to guide you. I come to your home or lead your class once a week to teach you the skills, explain techniques and demonstrate how to communicate clearly with your dog. But what happens on the other six days of the week? That’s where the real training happens.
Dogs learn best through consistent practice and repetition. If you only work with your dog during our weekly sessions, progress will be slow. But if you practice daily, even in short sessions, you’ll start to see real transformation.
Consistency Makes a Difference:
Recently, I worked with a few clients who were truly committed to their dogs’ training. They practiced daily, reinforced the skills we worked on and stayed consistent. The results? Their dogs made incredible progress between sessions.
On the flip side, I’ve also worked with many clients who didn’t follow through between lessons. Without reinforcement at home, their dogs struggled to improve, and the same issues lingered week after week. It’s not because those dogs weren’t capable. It’s because training wasn’t continued beyond our lesson.
I Want Every Dog to Succeed:
My goal is always to help your dog succeed. But the success of your dog’s training journey is directly linked to your effort. Think of it as learning a new language: one hour a week with an instructor isn’t enough unless you practice between lessons.
How Successful Do You Want Your Dog to Be?
If you’re willing to commit to practicing regularly, being patient and staying consistent, your dog will thrive. I’ll be here to support and guide you every step of the way—but the daily moments you share with your dog are where the real growth happens.
Going forward, there will be an established training plan that will help you and your dog become successful together. Here is a brief look at that.
Here’s a brief overview of what you can expect:
Weekly Lesson Focus:
Each session builds on the last, introducing new skills while reinforcing the foundation. We’ll work on cues like sit, down, stay, leash walking, recall and more—always tailored to your dog’s needs and goals.
Homework & Daily Practice:
After each lesson, you'll receive simple, actionable steps to work on throughout the week. Practicing a few minutes a day is more effective than long, occasional sessions.
Tracking Progress:
We’ll keep track of what your dog has mastered and what needs more work. This helps us stay on target and celebrate the wins along the way!
Support Between Lessons:
Don't hesitate to reach out if you ever feel unsure about something we covered. I want you to feel confident, supported and successful at every stage.
